We offer and highly recommend utilizing our boarding prep options. This has shown to greatly reduce anxiety and stress during their boarding stay. We offer full day or half day options and may recommend multiple visits for the more anxious dogs. This allows your dog the opportunity to adjust to us and our environment so their stay is less stressful for them. It also offers us the opportunity to assess their social style so we can plan accordingly based on their preferences. Most importantly, it lets them know that you will be coming back for them when they are left here for an extended time. No matter which way you slice it, being away from their family is stressful for dogs and we take every opportunity available to reduce that stress and make their stay with us more comfortable. Allowing them the opportunity to get to know us and vice versa has shown to drastically improve their ability to enjoy their time with us. Email us at fourpawsinnvt@gmail.com to schedule a visit!

Boarding Structure

We understand boarding can be stressful for our animal friends and we cater to their individual needs to alleviate their stress and make them as comfortable as possible. We have kennels with raised beds in the back area where we play soothing music and keep the lighting dim to encourage rest and calmness. Dogs are very sensitive and stress in one incites stress in others so we take great care to reduce that as much as possible. If your dog enjoys socializing with others, we make small social groups for our boarders and aim to give them as much time outdoor time as possible to prevent kennel frustration. We will board dogs that are not dog friendly as long as we can manage their tolerance. However, if they cause too much stress for their fellow boarders and can not acclimate to our setting, we may need to refer you elsewhere as safety is our number one concern here. If you are unsure how your dog will do boarding, please schedule a board prep day well in advance so we can help you make other arrangements if they are not a good fit for our environment. Do not wait until the last minute because the good boarding places book up quickly!

  • Proof of vaccination is required prior to or upon arrival. We offer oral Bordatella vaccines to our clients for $20!

  • Rabies, Distemper and Bordatella vaccination is required prior to boarding with us. We  accept blood titers in lieu of recent vaccinations for your dog over the age of 6 months. You will need to provide either the vaccination or blood titer record before you bring your dog to us.

  • Flea/Tick preventatives are also required. We are located in a very rural area and dogs will be running in fields where ticks may be present. We know you won't want to be taking home any unwanted guests from our kennels! We require that all dogs be on flea and tick prevention monthly to prevent an outbreak of these pesky critters. If your dog shows signs of fleas they will be treated at the owner’s expense ($25).

  • Please provide your pup's food with instructions and name attached. We have many dogs stay here so labeling is important to ensure there are no mix-ups! If you feed your dog a natural/raw diet, we are happy to feed it. Please make sure it is already prepared and proportioned for each feeding. We do have a refrigerator and microwave for storage/preparation. Please put your dog's name on ALL belongings, including food. If you do not provide food with your dog we will feed them from our supply at an additional charge of $5/day. This can cause GI upset and is not recommended, but we will provide if necessary. If your dog runs out of food while here, you will be charged $5/day/dog for the remainder of their stay.

  • If your pup is stressed we recommend sending them with some scent from home like a blanket or bed. But please leave your dog's large bed at home. Smaller beds or blankets that can be tossed into the washing machine (if an accident occurs) are best.

  • If your dog has any favorite chew toys, feel free to send with them. We also offer some enrichment options in our puppy perks which you can find under our rates. Feel free to add these to your reservation. Your pup will appreciate the special pampering and attention!
