Meet the staff

Heather Bent, Executive Director

Hello fellow dog lovers!

I am very excited to start this new chapter in my life and look forward to getting to know you and your pets! My love for animals has been something that has driven me all my life. I received my Associates degree in veterinary technology graduating on the Dean’s List in 2003. In 2009 I founded Potter’s Angels Rescue, which achieved non-profit status in 2011, currently has over 130 volunteers and has saved thousands of animals to date.

Upon starting this rescue, I quickly realized I would need to learn more about dog behavior to be able to help the many dogs that were suffering in that regard. So began my mission to better understand dogs and improve my communication skills to alter their behavior. I have attended countless workshops and seminars on dog behavior and fine-tuned my skills through the many rescue dogs that I have fostered. I plan to use these skills and knowledge to operate Four Paws Inn and provide a safe, yet fun, haven for your pet during the day. I look forward to working with you (and your dogs!) and thank you for trusting me to care for your pups while you’re away!

Tessie, Rescue Ambassador/ Front Desk Clerk

UPDATE: RETIRED and living the quiet life at home as I passed the torch to Dorito.

I am so excited to meet everyone! My name is Tessie and I have assisted my Mama with many of rescue dogs that needed a friend. For some reason, dogs don't always trust her so she has me help them relax and feel safe. Who better to teach them than me? I once was rescued too and when I first met Mama I didn't trust her one bit! Spoiler alert **she is my favorite person in the whole world now!!**

Long ago, I lived a miserable existence in the puppy mills of Minnesota. For some unknown reason they decided to cull me as they often do with their unwanted dogs, but my Mama wouldn't let that happen and she sent a Uhaul all the way to Minnesota to rescue me and 41 other friends of mine. She taught me that not all people are evil and, actually most are very nice! And I now help pass that message along to other dogs so they can feel safe with people just like me! As much as I enjoy that job, I look forward to playing with some pups that aren't scared of everything, but don't worry, I will help you if you are! Welcome to our playhouse!

Dorito Ears Bent, Canine Friendship Coordinator

Hey all! My name is Dorito Ears Bent, but people call me Dori or Dorito. I was pulled out of a scary shelter by my Mama and she has taken great care of me ever since. You might notice that I don't have any eyes and that's because I had a congenital defect. My eyes used to cause me a lot of pain and irritation. Once they were removed, I actually felt a lot better! I get around so well that most people don't even realize that I'm blind! I enjoy playing with all the pups and helping nervous pups feel comfortable just like my big sis, Tessie used to do. Sometimes Tessie comes in to make sure I am still doing a good job and to visit all her friends. I am still a bit nervous of people, but I LOVE making new dog friends, which makes this a great job for me. I specialize in choosing playgroups for the new dogs that come here so everyone has a great time. I have gotten pretty good at choosing the best matches and have created some pretty magical friendships here. Sometimes I have friends help if I am not sure where to put someone and every once in a while, even Mama helps me make my choices. Anyways, it's been real getting to know you and I hope to "see" ya around lol
